Happy 2026 – Two New Books from Sher Music!

Folks –
Let me start by wishing you all a swinging New Year and the very best in 2026!
Last year was financially tough for us at Sher Music Co., but a deeply rewarding one for me personally, as I’ve been taping our regular Sunday outdoor jazz concerts here in Petaluma — Jazz in the Plaza. (Check our homepage for more: www.shermusic.com.

Having those recordings has allowed me to objectively assess my own playing — and yes, I’ve made progress! At 78, I’m still learning, still growing, and now even remembering to pat myself on the back for the things I’m doing well. Live and learn, eh?

A Thought on Music Books

While prices continue to rise at the grocery store, gas pump, and beyond, it’s worth noting that music books remain a steal. For about the cost of lunch for two, you can own The Practice Notebooks of Michael Brecker — a resource you’ll use and treasure for a lifetime.

As one anonymous poet wisely said:
“Make Beauty — there will be one less place for evil to hide.”

Full speed ahead in 2026. Long live jazz.
Peace and love,
— Chuck Sher
