This was the first fake book Sher Music Co. ever published, and more than 40 years later people still tell us it's their favorite one of them all!
Our intention was to amass all the great jazz compositions that the old Real Book missed and publish them in a single, accurate book. We were particularly happy to be able to include some of the best songs by the masters of contemporary jazz – Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, John Scofield, Herbie Hancock, Russell Ferrante, Jaco Pastorius, Richie Beirach, Wayne Shorter, etc., and to get their approval of our transcriptions.
In addition, the owners of all of the songs have received ongoing royalties since the year The World’s Greatest Fake Book was published. This was an important first for fake books, and another reason the Sher Music Co. has been considered the best since day one.
